<description>Energy Saving and Solution Proposals Compressors and Electric Motors
Atiç, Serdal
Many countries are dependent substantially on outside financial sources. Ever-growing energy need&#13;
indicates significant problems which would be seen on energy in the future. Today, consumers have to use&#13;
energy in more productive way. Even if it is an advantage to obtain energy by different sources , it has got&#13;
a great importance t use existing energy in saving. From this point of view, improvements related to the&#13;
productive usage of energy in industry facilities which energy is mostly consumed and the productivity&#13;
studies should be started. Studies related to energy saving can be made on electric motors and&#13;
compressors which are mostly used especially in industry facilities with energy productivity policies&#13;
which will be applied. So energy productivity is provided in industry field in many countries and also these&#13;
countries' competitive capacity can be increased with developed countries as the current costs' are&#13;
decreased. Thus, aforementioned countries' foreign-source dependency can be reduced in energy.

<title>Modelling and analysis of line-to-line short circuit fault in 154 kV high-voltage substation</title>

<description>Modelling and analysis of line-to-line short circuit fault in 154 kV high-voltage substation
Rüstemli, Sabir; Demir, İlter; Akdağ, Mustafa
In this study line-to-line short circuit currents that are likely to happen in 154 kV Van (a city at the east&#13;
of Turkey) Substation are modelled by MATLAB Simulink program with actual parameters. Lines, power&#13;
transformers, circuit breakers, and loads which are the main components of a substation are modelled&#13;
under MATLAB/ Simulink. Actual parameters are used for simulation. In case of power transformer&#13;
modelling calculations are done by taking factory test reports as a base and power transformer block&#13;
parameter values are found. Load parameter values are taken from electricity meter in the substation.&#13;
Since 154 kV Van substation is modelled alone, the effect of interconnected system is modelled by an&#13;
ideal voltage source.

<title>Solar Radiation and Temperature Effects on Agricultural Irrigation Systems</title>

<description>Solar Radiation and Temperature Effects on Agricultural Irrigation Systems
Palta, Olcay; Cengiz, Çiğdem; Kaynaklı, Metin
Day by day water resources in the world are getting shortened and agricultural lands are gradually getting&#13;
dry. Water extraction for agricultural purposes in the regions far away from the electric network, brings&#13;
extra costs. In the regions that are close to the electric network, high electric bills are encountered. In&#13;
irrigation systems, cost-efficient and high performance power generation is possible thanks to the solar&#13;
energy. When parameters such as the quantity of water and the well height required are known, costefficient agricultural irrigation can be achieved by proper pump selection. In this study; dynamic change&#13;
realized on daily and annual basis was researched for off-grid photovoltaic pump system (PVPS) that is&#13;
attached to photovoltaic (PV) panels. In this system, PV panels are directly attached to the pump that feeds&#13;
a tank placed high above. According to the measurements performed in the application area, Malatya&#13;
province; analyzes were carried out on solar radiation, change of temperature, electrical efficiency and&#13;
pump water flow. Months that had similar solar radiation and temperature values, were gathered under&#13;
three different groups. That is, instead of monthly data, months that were of similar nature, were named&#13;
as the Warm period, Lukewarm period and Cold period. In consequence of the study, major changes were&#13;
observed in the system flow and efficiency throughout the day. Therefore, it was determined that&#13;
designing any PVPS application according to daily average values without investigating the dynamic&#13;
process, would cause performance decrease and additional costs.

<title>Providing Cost Save by Using Electronic Meters in Residental Areas</title>

<description>Providing Cost Save by Using Electronic Meters in Residental Areas
Kocaman, Behçet
In our country, the demand for electrical energy, which is a development indicator, is increasing day by&#13;
day. Due to the limited energy resources to meet this growing demand for energy it is not only able to&#13;
meet the increasing production. Therefore, the current system of electricity generation, transmission&#13;
and distribution used more efficiently that is electrical energy saving has become very important today.&#13;
For energy saving, advanced clock application and use of electronic meter such administrative&#13;
precaution and the correction of power factor such technical precaution. The most important&#13;
administrative precaution to reduce the use of energy at the most consumed period and hours is to&#13;
apply a higher price rate at these hours. Thus, by shifting the cosumption at these hours to other suitable&#13;
hours, a balanced energy consumption may be obtained. The measurement and billing of electric energy&#13;
used within the day at different times are done by means of electronic meters. In this study, it explained&#13;
how to achieve saving through the use of electronic meter and suggestions were made.
